NNAMDI KANU: IPOB FIRES RADIO BIAFRA BROADCASTER SIMON EKPA

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, explained on Wednesday why Simon Ekpa may no longer be a Radio Biafra broadcaster.

According to IPOB, Ekpa has refused to follow the rules of operation in Radio Biafra, necessitating the termination of his services.
Ekpa was hired as one of Radio Biafra’s broadcasters shortly after the arrest of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

The group, however, stated that Ekpa’s services may no longer be required because he has refused to sign the rules of engagement and code of conduct that govern those broadcasting on Radio Biafra.
“The global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has observed with regrets, that Mazi Simon Ekpa, whom our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu appointed and charged with starting broadcasting on Radio Biafra, does not want to follow the laid down rules of operation in Radio Biafra.” While in detention, our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, issued the directive, but Mazi Simon Ekpa has refused to follow the principles.

“Mazi Simon Ekpa has refused to sign the rules of engagement and code of conduct that govern Radio Biafra broadcasters. We don’t understand why Mazi Ekpa would refuse to follow in the footsteps of other platform broadcasters who have since done the necessary. IPOB is a large movement, and changing the rules because of one person risks setting a bad precedent. Mazi Simon Ekpa is a hardworking Biafran whose enormous contributions to the restoration of Biafra are greatly appreciated; however, because he did not sign the code of conduct as a broadcaster on Radio Biafra, he may lose the opportunity to broaden his reach through the platform.

“This decision was made not to mock or undermine anyone, but to demonstrate to all that due process cannot be compromised in IPOB. IPOB is a well-organized movement in which members’ activities are governed by well-thought-out rules. No one should act in a way that implies the laws are only for a specific group of people. While Mazi Simon Ekpa retains the right to broadcast on Facebook and other platforms of his choosing, he is no longer permitted to do so as one of Radio Biafra’s official broadcasters.”
