The movie highlights the complexities of the human quest for a better life in a story of what is considered an everyday felony which regretfully ended up in a spiraling vortex of intricacies not originally bargained for. A desperate young Nigerian student who in his efforts to stay in the proverbial land of “milk and honey” contracted the usual bogus marriage with a lady he thought was a resident through whose marriage he will also secure his permanent residential visa. Unfortunately for him his so called “Valid Resident Wife, VRW an East European national was herself a victim of forced immigration having been originally trafficked to that same land of “milk and honey” London for prostitution! And to further muddled up the already polluted water, the young Nigerian was already married to a loving wife back home in Nigeria! In their bid to convince the Immigration authorities of the validity of their marriage, the couple originally fake love of togetherness by living together, but in the course of time their fake love turned into the real McCoy and it is precisely at that point that their pasts race forward to catch up with them. The theme of “The Marriage” depicts the costs of human migration for economic reasons, typified by the unrelenting yearnings of African for greener pastures, defying deaths through the dangerous crossing of Libya desert to the Mediterranean. Besides being already certified by the British Film Institute and Department of Culture, the film is in the process of securing the Nigerian Film Censors Board Certificate. It features a host of top-rated London base Nigerian actors and has won laurels at European Film Awards, Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival and Accolades Film Award in the USA.
