This comes after the United Kingdom and Canada implemented travel bans on Nigeria and placed the West African country on their respective red lists.

According to the Daily Trust, the Saudi government has put a ban on flights from Nigeria to curb the spread of Omicron in the kingdom.

The ban on flights from Nigeria, according to the source, will affect travellers planning to visit the Kingdom for a lesser Hajj.

Due to the incident, an official at the Kano Airport told the newspaper that a circular had already been issued ordering all lesser Hajj trips to be cancelled.

“Yes, it is true because a circular was issued requesting that all Lesser Hajj flights be cancelled and that no other flights from Nigeria be scheduled until further notice.

“I believe they are following the lead of other countries, such as the United Kingdom, in preventing the virus from entering the kingdom,” he stated.
