Muhammad Adamu, the late husband, was 35 years old.

According to police, an investigation revealed that the deceased’s parent forced the 19-year-old lady to marry him against her will.

Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Command, revealed this in Yola when announcing the 19-year-old’s arrest on Wednesday.

According to him, the state’s police commissioner, Aliyu Alhaji, has requested a clinical examination into the issue.

He did, however, say that preliminary police investigations have revealed that the Suspect was forcibly married to the dead by her parents against her will on June 8, 2021, and that the marriage lasted barely three weeks before the heinous occurrence.

He claimed the suspect was apprehended in the state’s Shelleng Local Government Area, where the crime occurred, after a report from a friend of the deceased, Jophas Johnsley.

“The suspect, Rumasau Muhammed, a resident of Wuro Yanka Village, Shelleng local government area, stabbed her late husband Muhammed Adamu with a knife when the deceased refused to announce such divorce,” he stated.

“Angry at his refusal to divorce her despite her repeated requests, the Suspect stabbed him in the stomach with a knife, knocking him out and rushing him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Police in Shelleng Divisional Headquarters nabbed the culprit after receiving a report from one Jophas Johnsley, a friend of the deceased.”
