The Nollywood actor is charged with six counts of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault by penetration.

As the hearing resumed on Friday, prosecutors withdrew their request to submit one of Baba Ijesha’s supposed confessions to the crime after the actor’s lawyers objected.

The defendant’s lawyer stated that Baba Ijesha gave the statement on April 19th under duress. The actor was forced to sign the confessional statement, according to his counsel. The police officer who submitted the statement on Baba Ijesha’s behalf also omitted to the part that included his name or signature, according to the defendant’s counsel.

Following that, the prosecuting team withdrew the statement.

The case, however, is far from done, as statements reportedly written by Baba Ijesha on April 20 and April 30 were given to the judge, who adjourned the case until November 12.

During the last hearing, an expert witness testified in court that Baba Ijesha’s alleged victim sustained injuries consistent with forcible penetration. However, the Nollywood star has already pleaded ‘not guilty.’

The foster mother of the youngster, comedienne-actress Damilola Adekoya, a.k.a. Princess, was present in court to observe the proceedings.

Following Friday’s court sessions, the media surrounded Baba Ijesha for remarks, but the embattled actor made his way into a waiting car and, without speaking to the media, was driven away by those who accompanied him to the court.
