O. Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, has informed Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, that Lagos State will support him during the funeral rites of his father, Pa. Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun. He believes it is critical for Lagos to participate in the late Abiodun’s burial rites in order to demonstrate that Lagos and Ogun are genuinely united. The late Abiodun’s burial rites have been arranged for September 6 to 9 in Ogun State, after he died on Monday, August 2 at the age of 89. Governor Sanwo-Olu said the dead had a happy life during a condolence visit to Governor Abiodun’s family house in Iperu, Ogun State, on Sunday. Governor Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr. Anofi Elegushi; Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed; Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Pharm. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale. “I am here on behalf of the people and administration of Lagos State to express our condolences to you and to thank God for what He has done with Papa’s life,” he added. Today, we are grateful and relieved that, despite the suffering, we are not in mourning. We are indeed commemorating Papa Emmanuel Adesanya Abiodun’s life. I want to reassure you that Papa is resting in the arms of the Almighty. I’m sure his fond memories will last a lifetime. I believe Baba lived a decent life, as evidenced by all of the members of the Abiodun family. He wasn’t only a father; he was also a teacher in the community, and I’m sure he was a strict disciplinarian. That is the result of what we are witnessing today. Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was among the first to call Governor Abiodun after his father’s death on Monday, August 2, prayed that God would continue to provide his Ogun State counterpart with the knowledge, capability, and ability to carry his state forward. Governor Abiodun responded by thanking God for his father’s survival and praising Governor Sanwo-Olu and his Ekiti State counterpart, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for taking time out of their busy schedules to sympathize with him and his family. His father, he added, lived a simple life and gave everything he had to God.
