O. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has expressed his grief over the death of some Ojodu Grammar School children who were crushed by a truck driver on Tuesday. Sanwo-Olu expressed regret at the death of the children in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Gboyega Akosile, on Wednesday, characterizing their deaths as tragic, unfortunate, and avoidable. He expressed his condolences to the deceased’s families, relatives, friends, and the management and employees of Ojodu Grammar School. “I express my condolences to the parents, management, staff, and students of Ojodu Grammar School for the tragic death of our pupils who were killed by a truck driver yesterday.” “I’ve been grieved by the tragic incident since yesterday since it’s dreadful to hear about the deaths of innocent youngsters, especially in a situation that could have been avoided.” “Words cannot explain how devastated I was as a parent when I learned of the occurrence. No one’s life deserved to be ended in that manner, including those vibrant youngsters who were returning from where they had gone to learn for a better future. “My heartfelt condolences to their parents.” I pray that God gives them the strength to bear the unrecoverable loss. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the survivors who are being treated in hospitals,” the governor stated. Meanwhile, he said, the state administration has ordered that the affected institutions be closed until January while investigations were carried out. The erring driver, according to Sanwo-Olu, has also been apprehended.
