Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, on Sunday urged candidates for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming local government elections to repeat the party’s political wins across the country.

Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this at the handing over of party flags to the 20 local government and 37 local council development areas chairmanship candidates ahead of the local government poll at the All Progressives Congress secretariat in the Ogba area of the state.

“This is an extremely important and significant event,” he remarked, referring to the official handing over of our flags to all of our candidates. We are presenting the flags to the chairmen and vice chairmen, who will be ably assisted by the party’s LGA chairmen, so that they can go back to their councillors and secure a resounding win on July 24, 2021.

“They are to campaign in all of the state’s nooks and crannies by going to the various municipal administrations. We believe that this major event will signal our commitment to our upcoming local government election. And we’re confident that the success we’ve had at the national and state levels will translate into local government elections as well.”

“Their activities will be monitored periodically. This is the responsibility of the deputy governor and Speaker, and we expect strong competition among the councils as a result.

“We pray that the APC will come out on top; we hope that these candidates do well and do not disappoint those who voted for them.”

Earlier, the party’s Caretaker Chairman in Lagos State, Honourable Babatunde Balogun, stated that the party is certain of winning the state’s local government election.

Balogun claimed that the ruling party in the state, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has endeared itself to the voters by major infrastructure development and supply of basic facilities to people, and that the party wants the electorate to return the gestures with votes.

“By the grace of God, we expect all of you to win in the next six days, with the support of the Lagos electorate.”
