Hundreds of supporters of former South African President Jacob Zuma remained camped outside his home on Sunday, threatening to make the country unruly if he is imprisoned.

South Africa’s constitutional court agreed to consider Zuma’s appeal to get the order rescinded after he was sentenced to a 15-month prison sentence for contempt of court.

Zuma has shown no sign of surrendering to the police after refusing to testify in a corruption trial.

Zuma supporters dressed in ANC regalia have been camped outside their embattled leader’s homestead in Nkandla, Kwa-Zulu Natal, for weeks in a show of force.

“Don’t rush the fight, war kills!” sang several on Sunday.

Lindokuhle Maphalala told AFP that if (Police Minister) Bheki Cele comes here to arrest uBaba (Zuma), he must start with us.

The protesters demanded that President Cyril Ramaphosa step down, pledging to safeguard Zuma from jail time.
