Following the Briton’s maiden Grand Slam victory at the US Open last month, Coco Gauff has warned her fellow teenager Emma Raducanu to be mindful of social media.

Raducanu, who became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam title with her victory at Flushing Meadows, has garnered thousands of new fans on her social media sites.

Gauff, who rose to prominence as a 15-year-old after reaching the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019, has cautioned Raducanu.

“When you get a lot of retweets, follows, and other things, it’s exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. At least, that’s been my experience. That’s probably what I wish I’d known: don’t get caught up in social media “No. 19 in the world stated.

“I put a time limit on my phone because I was concerned that I was wasting too much time on it. I have limited access to apps from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. “Gauff continued.

Both Gauff and Raducanu will compete in the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells this week, which returns after a two-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roger Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam winner, recently said that the new generation of tennis stars, such as Raducanu, required assistance to avoid being victimized by social media abuse.
