Premier League clubs have spent more than £7 billion on their current squads, more than double the amount spent by any other European elite league.

According to a survey published by the CIES Football Observatory, English top-flight clubs have spent significantly more on their respective rosters than teams in Serie A (£2.9 billion), La Liga (£2.8 billion), Ligue 1 (£2.3 billion), and the Bundesliga (£2 billion).

Manchester City (£926m) and Manchester United (£877m) are the most expensive clubs in Europe, according to the data, with Chelsea (£669m), Liverpool (£576m), Arsenal (£542m), and Tottenham (£472m) rounding out the top ten.

With a squad worth £820 million, Paris Saint-Germain is ranked third, while fellow European powerhouses Real Madrid (£675 million), Juventus (£563 million), and Barcelona (£551 million) are all among the top ten.

Everton (£400 million), Leicester (£352 million), Aston Villa (£301 million), Wolves (£265 million), West Ham (£261 million), Newcastle (£237 million), Crystal Palace (£206 million), Southampton (£192 million), and Brighton (£188 million) are among the Premier League clubs in the top 30.

Arsenal spent £156.8 million on young talent, including White (£50 million), Martin Odegaard (£34 million), Aaron Ramsdale (£30 million), Takehiro Tomiyasu (£19.8 million), Albert Sambi Lokonga (£15 million), and Nuno Tavares (£8 million).

Manchester United came close to matching Arsenal’s £133.7 million spending on Jadon Sancho (£73 million), Raphael Varane (£41 million), and Cristiano Ronaldo (£19.7 million), while Manchester City spent every penny of their £100 million on Grealish, with Aston Villa reinvesting £93 million of that money on new recruits to help fill the void left by their former captain – just missing Chelsea’s £97.5 million outlay on Lukaku.
