In videos and pictures sourced from several social media users, a number of lifeless bodies and dismembered limbs could be seen. The immediate cause of the Saturday night attack cannot be ascertained yet but Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Sunday morning, in a statement, assured that calm has been restored in the affected communities. He said “I have received the shocking news of the attacks on residents of Igangan, Ibarapaland, in the early hours of this morning. I am currently being briefed on the incidents. The Convener of Igangan Development Advocates, Oladiran Oladokun, told newsmen that the attack occurred on Friday. He said, “The farmer was reportedly attacked by three criminal herders around his farm at Abojukopo area of ldiyan. The victim was told not to identify (refer to) them as Fulani and he cooperated to save his life after he was shot on the shoulder. They were not convinced and still inflicted him with machete injuries.” The victim’s brother, Pascal Kaston, also told newsmen correspondent on the telephone on Saturday that the police were informed of the attack and some policemen visited the scene of the attack on Friday.
