When terrorists invaded the Kabba Correctional Centre in Kogi State in the early hours of Monday, two soldiers at a roadblock in front of the institution were reportedly murdered and another critically injured. During the attack on the facility, around 100 prisoners were alleged to have been released. The troops were alleged to have set up a normal roadblock along the Lokoja-Okebukun-Kabba route approximately 50 meters before the correctional centre when the hoodlums opened fire on them before marching on the facility. According to unconfirmed reports, attackers sprayed shots on an unfinished building where the soldiers were staying before storming into the jail facility and releasing over 100 convicts. Some of the correctional officials on duty were reportedly injured, while another soldier was reportedly shot in the leg.Some of the convicts were later re-arrested around 8 a.m. on Monday outside the Kudon Hotel in Kabba, when they attempted to board a vehicle to flee to neighboring Kwara State, according to a source. The Commissioner of Police and other leaders of security agencies have leapt into action, according to Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 8, Ayuba Edeh.
