O. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, has praised the Federal Government for lifting the ban on Twitter access. Former Lagos Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu observed in a post via his Twitter handle, which is run by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Office, that the microblogging platform provided Nigerians with opportunities for social and economic emancipation. On the other hand, Tinubu highlighted that, despite the numerous opportunities provided by Twitter, Nigerians occasionally abuse it. “Social media – indeed all media, including Twitter – are a tool for us to all communicate, report, share, and connect with stories and each other, to enable Nigerians’ economic and social empowerment,” Tinubu stated. They can, and do, however, be misunderstood. “I applaud the Federal Government for acknowledging these factors and, more significantly, for finalizing discussions for the safe reinstatement of Twitter access to the millions of Nigerians who use it on a regular basis.” Tinubu announced on Monday that he had informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his decision to compete for the country’s highest political office. Meanwhile, many Nigerians believe the APC leader will utilize the forum to promote his campaign in the run-up to the 2023 elections.
