The man on the floor could be heard shouting “you cannot arrest me, everything I bought has been taken from me and you still want to take me to the station.” The narrative on Twitter claimed that Armed Policemen likely of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had chased a man into the Shoprite Mall at Sango-Otta, Toll Gate in Ogin State. However, eye witness accounts told hotjist.com that the narrative being pushed on Social Media is a complete distortion of the events that transpired on Sunday morning at the Mall. The anonymous eyewitness stated that the man sitting on the floor in the video had tried gaining entry into the Mall with a motorcycle along with a rider, which is not allowed. “The security at the gate tried to prevent the duo from gaining access into the mall, they forcefully rode inside the parking lot and parked the motorcycle. The security men accosted them and insisted that the motorcycle should be removed from the premises and a shouting match ensued. The aggrieved shopper then broke a bottle that was in his hands and threatened to stab the security man. It is believed that the shopper was already drunk after taking unknown drinks or substances and then went berserk. He reportedly started destroying items at the phone shop within the mall which made other shoppers scared. As the unruly duo were trying to evade arrest, they ran into Shoprite but the Shop Manager pleaded with the armed security men not to make the arrest within the shop. After much persuasion for about 45 minutes, the unruly man went out, escorted by Shoprite Shop Manager and the two men who created the scene were promptly arrested and taken away.
