Last year’s UNICEF fund-raiser, which the World XI won in a penalty shootout at Old Trafford, was Rooney’s first as England manager. Among the former players that will take part with Wayne Rooney are Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Kelly Smith, Roberto Carlos, Patrice Evra, David James, Ashley Cole, Emile Heskey and Jamie Redknapp. Usain Bolt and Fara Williams are part of the celebrities that will be playing that day, others include James Arthur, Tom Gr ennan, Olly Murs, Mark Wright, Paddy McGuinness, Ore Oduba, Kem Cetinay, Liv Cooke, Roman Kemp, Chunkz. Harry Redknapp and Micah Richards will be among the coaching team while Maya Jama will be the Pundit of the day. Wayne Rooney in an interview, said, “Pulling on an England shirt is always special, so I’m absolutely delighted to be doing that again in Soccer Aid for UNICEF. Managing the England team last year was great but being around the players made me want to lace up the boots again – now I’ve got that chance, one last time.” The World XI retained their trophy at Old Trafford last year, raising a record-breaking £9.3 million. This year’s funds might assist UNICEF provide two billion Covid-19 vaccines to frontline healthcare personnel, social workers, and teachers all throughout the world.
