The Academic Staff Union of Universities has stated that it is waiting for reports from its various branches before making a final decision on the Federal Government’s failure to meet its demands.

Prof. Emmanuel Oshodeke, the union’s National President, revealed this in a chat with our correspondent on Tuesday.

It was reported that, ASUU ended its nine-month strike  December 2020 after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the federal government.

The government, however, has yet to meet the union’s demands a year after the agreement was struck.

Oshodeke also claimed that the government had not contacted the union after the three-week deadline had passed on Sunday.

“We finished the principal meeting and returned to the branches,” he stated. What we should do next will be determined by our branches. We didn’t state we’d give a 24-hour deadline; instead, we indicated we’d contact our members within 24 hours.

“We’ve given them anywhere from 10 to two weeks to respond, and we’ll talk about additional things we want to do.” We haven’t received any official communication from the FG.”

On November 15, ASUU issued a three-week ultimatum to the Federal Government for failure to meet its objectives.
