After their legendary trilogy concluded without a handshake, Deontay Wilder has ended his enmity with Tyson Fury with a respectful message.

In the moments after losing their third bout in Las Vegas last Saturday, Wilder refused a post-fight show of respect from Fury.

The Former WBC heavyweight champion has now stated: “What an incredible evening! First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to God for allowing me to share with the world another part of myself that is motivated by passion and determination.

“I’d want to express my gratitude to my teammates and supporters for standing by me during this long journey.

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed in the outcome, but after reflecting on my journey, I’ve come to realise that what God wanted me to experience was far better than what I had anticipated.

“We didn’t win, but as a wise man once remarked, victory is found in the lessons. I’ve come to realise that sometimes you have to lose in order to win.

“Although, I wanted the win I enjoyed seeing the fans win even more. Hopefully, I proved that I am a true warrior and a true king in this sport.

“Hopefully, WE demonstrated that no matter how hard life throws you curveballs, you can always get yourself up and fight for what you believe in.

In a barnstorming bout that included five knockdowns combined, Fury beat Wilder in the 11th round.
