“Politicians must commit to peaceful, violence-free-polls ahead of 2019” – Prince Ajumobi Oniwonlu
There is no doubt that there is a tendency for politicians to resort to illicit means to achieve their political goals. But to find a politician speaking boldly to the press on such an issue and sending out an alert to electioneering bodies is rare.
Prince Abdul-Lateef Ajumobi Oniwolu a political aspirant under the flag of the All Progressive Party said on Monday to men and women of the press that politicians should adhere to the rules and regulations guiding the electoral process. He called for a peaceful and violence free election stating that there is a need for all the parties involved to abide by the due processes involved in electioneering ahead of the 2019 general elections in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State and Nigeria in more general terms.
This statement was made on Monday at Eti-Osa Local government area of Lagos state. The political aspirant further stated that if the various bodies involved in the electoral process want an all-inclusive participation from the voters there must be peace and a total lack of violence.
He also further condemned certain acts of violence which was carried out on some members of the APC who held political offices and the disruption of party meetings. He warned youths to avoid being used as political thugs as the politicians involved would not help them when they land in the hands of the law.
