Mos Def Now The Creative Director For South African Fashion Brand.

Former USA rapper Mos Def, also known as Yasiin Bey has been announced as the creative director for New York/Cape Town based fashion brand Unknown Union. Yasiin is scheduled to take on the influential role of overseeing styles, collaborations and the overall design concepts of the clothing brand.
The socially conscious lyricist gained his rise to hip-hop stardom with such hits as “Mathematics”, “Life in Marvelous Times” and more. He became a mainstream when he starred in Brown Sugar as Queen Latifah’s love interest. Since then, the rapper changed his name from Mos Def to Yasiin Bey and resides with his family in South Africa.
Unknown Union’s new direction with Yasiin was exemplified by the launch of The Original Royals Collection made from the traditional blankets of the Basotho people. These blankets have a history that dates back over 150 years and form the basis of a proud living tradition and cultural legacy that is interwoven into the very social fabric of Basotho life.
