As the girl gets her first period, she enters a new dimension of her life, she enters womanhood. Somewhere the day is celebrated and somewhere around the world, she is asked to stay away from everyone. Well, there are thousands of countries around the world and thus thousand of traditions around them.
Here Is A list Of Some Weird First Period Traditions From Corners Of World.
1. When a girl in the Philippines got her first period, her mother rinsed her underwear just with water and smeared it all over her face and said it will avoid pimples in future.
2. In Ghana, a girl is asked to swallow a whole boiled egg and biting it means you are killing your babies.
3. In Turkey, when a girl gets her periods she is slapped hard enough so that her cheeks turn red. This is done as a reminder to have some sense of shame throughout their lives.
4. In Japan, The mother makes sekihan — sticky rice with adzuki beans. It is traditionally made for celebrations and this is a celebration. Although she doesn’t reveal why she made the dish. The family members are supposed to guess.
5. According to Israeli traditions, you need to lick a teaspoon of honey to make future periods easier.
6. In South Indian Tradition, the girl is not supposed to look at any boys (even her brother and father) for a certain length of time.
7. In Malaysia, The girl is made to drink raw egg with some kind of oil poured into it. It makes them feel better.

9. In Fiji, family members of the menstruating girl draw lines with chalk on the doorway and the girl has to cross over and enter the line.
10. In Croatia, the older family members allow the girl to drink red wine when she is in her first menstruating cycle.
11. In Canada, the girl has to go through ritual named Berry Cleanse. In this ritual, she is not allowed to eat berries for a year. After the year has passed woman around her welcome her to womanhood.
12. According to Sri Lankan traditions, on the second day of first menstruation, the girl is gifted money to celebrate the occasion.
13. In South Africa, there is a big party thrown but the girl is not allowed to leave the room for three days. Only after three days, she is able to see her presents.
14. In UAE, various people including men come to visit the girl and give their blessing. Its kind of embarrassment but still its a ritual.
15. In other traditions of Philippines, the girl is asked to jump stairs so that it will show how many her periods will last.
16. In America, someone else has to pour water over her on the first day so that the girl can remove all the blood, impurities and stains.
