One dies as Christian and Muslim students of Modibbo Adama University clash over election(photos)
A student of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola, Adamawa state, has reportedly been killed while many others were seriously injured during a clash between Christian and Muslim students of the school. The clash started on Sunday night and lingered into Monday February 5th.
According to reports, crisis started when Christian students of the University won most of the seats contested for in the student union election. This angered their Muslim counterparts who later on, launched an attack on them while they were having a fellowship.
While the students ought to have commenced their exams yesterday, the University authorities after an emergency meeting, ordered that the school be closed and that all students vacate the premises.
The Dean of Studies, Lawan Haruna, who announced the closure, told Journalists that about four lecture theatres and some equipment were destroyed by the rampaging students.
