PLATEAU UNITED GET N150M TO CONQUER AFRICA
Nigeria champions, Plateau United, have been handed a huge motivation
ahead Sunday’s CAF Champions League first round first leg clash
against Cameroonian side, Ending Sport.
Plateau state government, under the leadership of Governor Simon
Lalong, has doled out the sum of N150m to the club.
The money, it was clearly spelt out, represents the club’s subvention
for the first quarter of the year.
It was meant to help the club prepare and prosecute their CAF
Champions League preliminary games as well as their domestic top
flight title defence according to club insider.
“Government of Plateau State is solidly behind the team.
“They are ready to push the team all the way. Financially, they are
stopping at nothing to motivate the club to excel in the continent.
“As we speak, the government has released a substantial amount, N150m,
representing the club’s first quarter subvention.
“They are also putting finishing touches to areas of deficient as
spotted by CAF Inspectors who visited the new Jo’s Stadium, venue of
Sunday’s match”, an official of the club said.
On Sunday’s match, the official said they are looking forward to a handsome win.
“You know this is African football. You have to try to win very well
at home so that is our objective for now.
“If we can replicate our form and performance that saw us thrash
Sunshine Stars 5-0 against the Cameroonians that will be nice”, he
submitted.
