HOUSE OF REPS CANVAS 20% FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED IN MDAs.

The House of Representatives has passed for second reading the persons with disability bill which will compel MDAs and companies to reserve 20% employment to the physically challenged in the society.
This was sequel to the consideration of a bill to carry along disabled persons in employment of the nation on Thursday at the plenary session.
Leading debate on the bill, the majority leader of the house, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila said the bill if passed would be a landmark bill as it will give the physically challenged in the country a sense of belonging.
House of Representatives correspondent, Linda Ike, reports that the Lawmakers also submitted that the bill will further give a sense of belonging to the persons with disability adding that the bill is a wakeup call to both the government and all Nigerians to support the physically challenged in the society.
Despite great support the bill got a flaw was however cited on the reservation of 20% to the physically challenged.
Lawmakers were later unanimous in their views that these group has been greatly neglected in the country and there is the need to give them a sense of belonging to encourage others who have lost any sign of hope of making it successful in the country.
The bill was therefore passed for second reading and referred to the house committee on women affairs for further legislative input.
