The federal Lawmakers in the House of Representatives were divided on the Amnesty granted by the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha on persons declared wanted by Rivers States government,

Lawmakers were visibly attacking each other on the matter which was finally laid to rest by the speakers nomination of three wise men to calm the very charged atmosphere at plenary.

The motion which was sponsored by twelve lawmakers and  presented on the floor by Hon, Betty Apiaffi (Rivers State) at the plenary session on Tuesday.

The Lawmakers expressed concern that despite declaring the criminal elements wanted by the Rivers State government, the IMO state Governor Rochas Okorocha in concert with some highly placed politicians granted them amnesty with the aim of engaging them for other clandestine activities ahead of the 2019 general elections.

House of Representatives Correspondent, Linda Ike, reports that the Lawmaker further noted that the amnesty granted the suspected killers of the New year day killings in Rivers State where dozens were massacred in cold blood was against humanity.
