Research Grant in Universities

The federal goverment has been urged to adopt the Europe-America Models of research grant to higher institutions of learning with a view to expand the scope of solving societal challenges.

Vice Chancellor Redeemers university, Ede Osun State, Professor Day Adeyewa and another professor of Emrology, Christian Happy gave the charge while justifying the need for all universities in Nigeria to have equal right to research grant.

Correspondent, Abass Okandeji reports that the two dons said, researchs have show that upsurge in the case of Lassa fever is associated with the mutation of the virus thus the need for collaboration.

They want the federal goverment to support and collaborate more with the African Center of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) to stem the spread of the scourge of infectious diseases in Nigeria

They said, the African Center of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases domiciled in Redeemers university has made advanced research on Ebola, malaria and recently Lassa Fever.

The disease research centre also appeal to agencies and government to include private research institutes in accessing find like thatof Tetfund which is solely reserved for public institutions alone.
