House Calls on FG For Aids To Victims of Ojo, Lagos state Rainfall Disaster.
The House of Representatives have called on the Federal Government to come to the aide of parents to the pupils killed and those injured in the disaster of a heavy rainfall in Ojo federal constituency of Lagos state.
The house also urged the National Emergency Management Agency to send relief materials to the people of lloro, lmude Ojota, Etegbin, Ishahai, Igbolobi, Okolodun, Erekun, Okunkobo, Agaja,Petepete, Taffi 1 and 2, Olomometta town whom have become homeless as a result of the heavy downpour disaster.
This emanated from a motion sponsored by Hon. Tajudeen Obasa last week at plenary.
Hon. Obasa while leading the debate noted that on Tuesday 8 May, 2018, a heavy rainfall destroyed several building in Ojo Federal Constituency, which resulted in the death of a Pupil named Mubarak Owolabi, and caused injury to several other pupils as well as rendered hundreds of resident homeless.
House of Representative Correspondent, Linda Ike reports that the lawmaker further expressed concern over the non proactive measure by either the Lagos State Government or Federal Government in rescue of the affected persons despite the havoc wreaked on the Community.
The house however mandated its Committee on Emergency and Disaster Preparedness to ensure compliance of its resolutions.
The community affected by the devastating rainfall are predominantly rural farmers and the disaster has caused them hardship as they have lost their homes and source of livelihood.
