Fans have hailed comedian Lost Voice Guy as an inspiration after he won the 2018 series of Britain’s Got Talent – and many are expecting him to prove a big hit with The Queen.
The 37-year-old – who was born with neurological condition cerebral palsy which renders him unable to speak – made the final three with fellow comedy act Robert White and singer Donchez Dacres, with more than 2.5 million viewers voting.
Ridley – the first comedian to win Britain’s Got Talent – has been hailed for overcoming all the challenges before him, with many on social media praising him as an example for others with disabilities and others saying he will charm Her Majesty at the Royal Variety Performance.
Twitter user ‘Mumma Bear’ said: ‘You’re an absolute legend. Congratulations, the Queen will love you’, while Craig Ridley added: ‘Well done to Lee Ridley aka @LostVoiceGuy. I’m sure The Queen will be amused’.
The result was also celebrated by his fellow Newcastle celebrities Alan Shearer and Ross Noble, with the former England footballer joking it was the ‘biggest win in the toon for decades’.
A former journalist, Lost Voice Guy has been touring since 2012 and is a regular on the Edinburgh Fringe scene and is well-known for his self-deprecating humour, including his t-shirts with tongue-in-cheek slogans.
Presenter Declan Donnelly was also praised for his hosting duties without Ant McPartlin as he crowned the comedy act in the dramatic live final, which included an appearance from the Royal Wedding’s Bishop Michael Curry and Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum, who drove the crowd wild.
