AFCON 2019: Amuneke aims high with Tanzania

New Tanzania coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, is relishing the chance to put the Southern African nation on the front burner of African football stating he would work wonders with the African minnows.

Amuneke, a former Nigeria international, will make his bow with the Taifa Stars in a 2019 AFCON qualifiers against Uganda on September 9 and he is ready to make himself popular among the nation’s football faithful.
“I know the Tanzanians are trusting in me with my assistant coaches. I am now part of Tanzania because this is my second home now. We shall work hard to make wonders,” Amuneke stated.
Amuneke has stated that he was honoured to be given the opportunity to lead Tanzania football declaring he is ready for the new challenge as he hopes to improve further.
Meanwhile, the 1993 African Footballer of the Year has invited 25 players for the crunch tie in Kampala.

 
The list includes three goalkeepers, 11 defenders, six midfielders and five strikers. Local clubs, Simba and Yanga FC dominated the squad with seven and five players respectively.
Top on the list of players invited is Belgium- based Mbawana Samatta of Belgium top division side Genk while Msuva Simon of Al-Jadida of Morocco was also listed.
