Leon Balogun’s performance in his debut game for Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion has earned him praises from his teammate and central defence partner Shane Duffy.
The Nigerian international was introduced as a replacement for Lewis Dunk twenty minutes into the game against Manchester United and partnered Duffy in central defence as they run out 3-2 winners over the EPL giants.
Duffy who scored Brighton’s second goal in the win was full of praise for Balogun after the game describing the World Cup star as a player who will improve their squad, judging by how quick he has settled down to the demands of the English Premier League following his move in the summer from Mainz 05 of Germany.
“He’s fitted straight in. He’s a big character in the changing room. He’s got a big voice. He’s played with big players in big games. That’s why you bring in players like that. They push us. He was great.
That’s another plus for us, that strength in depth with top players. You pick up injuries and suspensions so you need these kind of players to step in,” he was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
