SECURITY THREAT FORCES EKITI GOVERNORSHIP PETITION TRIBUNAL OUT OF THE STATE
The Ekiti State Governorship Petition Tribunal, has announced the relocation of the tribunal out of the state, following an application filed by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The Chairman of the State’s Governorship Petition Tribunal, Suleiman Belgore, who announced this on Monday said a new venue would be communicated under 48-hours.
The change of venue came as a result of an application filed by the counsel of the PDP, Adebayo Adelodun, SAN. Adebayo had argued that the state was unsafe for such sitting after his team was alleged to have been attacked by unknown hoodlums.
The prosecuting counsel said, “My Lord, on our way to the tribunal, we were accosted by some crowds with sticks. We were on a spot for several minutes until a senior police officer came to us.
“We have to be safe first; in life, safety comes first. We are professionals and we move around to do our job. Sir, we hereby request that this sitting should be shifted to another venue, probably Abuja because of safety.”
