POLICE ARREST GUARDIAN, FOUR OTHERS FOR SELLING TWO-WEEK-OLD BABY
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspects for abduction and child stealing.
The complaint was originally lodged at Ajah Division on May 5, 2025 by an individual who reported that his 16-year-old cousin, Miss Happiness, was impregnated by an unidentified person. Investigation revealed that due to financial constraints, the complainant’s mother entrusted her to one Nonye Osi ‘f’ for accommodation until she delivered. However, Nonye Osi conspired with others to relocate Miss Happiness to an unknown location. When she was eventually found, she was without her pregnancy and the baby.
Following transfer of the case to the SCID for discreet investigation, the police arrested the following suspects who had conspired and sold the baby for Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00): Nonye Osi ‘f’, Akintan Adedayo ‘f’, Jimoh Bashiru ‘m’, Elizabeth Bishop ‘f’ and Bukola Oladapo ‘f’.
Through painstaking efforts, detectives traced and successfully recovered the stolen two-week-old baby boy from Agemuwo, Badagry area. The child was found safe and sound. The Gender/Anti-Human Trafficking Unit is currently handling the case and attending to the baby, who is in good health, pending his reunion with his biological mother.
While investigations are ongoing to bring all involved parties to justice, the Lagos State Police Command reiterates its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
