Human rights activists, civil society organisations and students on Thursday staged a peaceful protest in Abuja to demand justice for late Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje, a 13-years-old girl who was raped by a father and his son in Ugbokolo in Benue State.

The protesters were seen wearing black T.shirt with inscriptions like: ‘I am Ochanya’; ‘#Justice4Ochanya’; ‘Say No To Rape’; ‘We Demand Justice for Ochanya’ ; ‘Hang The Rapist’; and ‘#Justice4OchanyaNow’ among others.
The protesters gathered at the Unity Fountain, Abuja calling on the government to ensure that those who perpetrated the dastardly act be brought to book.
They also marched to the Ministry of Justice to register their grievances and demanded justice for the deceased.
Addressing the protesters, the Coordinator for #Justice4Ochanya, Mr. Great Felix, said: “We want the Minister of Justice to expedite action and ensure that justice is delivered. This is because an injustice to one is an injustice to all.”
The protesters later marched to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Daily Post reported that Ochanya had battled Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi after being allegedly severely abused by one Andrew at the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Benue State, and his son, Victor Inalegwu Ogboja, a final year student of Animal Production at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
It was gathered that Ochanya later died following the complication from esicovaginal fistula (VVF) and other health complications
