OYO GOVT. DEMANDS SECURITY LEVY FROM RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS
Oyo State government is set to begin the collection of annual security levy from religious organizations in the state are as part of efforts to strengthen the state security trust fund for improved policing in the state.
This was made known in fliers distributed by the Oyo State Security Trust Fund.
According to its classification of the sectors into large, medium and small, manufacturing and services are to pay N100,000, N80,000, N60,000 in that order while trading, agriculture and forestry including solid minerals were pegged at N80,000, N50,000 and N30,000 respectively.
Religious bodies and others were fixed for N60,000, N40,000 and N20,000 respectively.
At the security stakeholders’ meeting held at the House of Chiefs, Agodi Secretariat, were the state Police Commissioner, Abiodun Odude and his team, army, area commanders of the DSS, Customs, NSCDC, NDLEA, CSOs of all the banks and representatives of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi who was represented by Deputy Governor, Moses Adeyemo, said the meeting was necessitated by the need for an anticipatory approach to counter and forestall any such happenings in the state.
“It is with pride that I can inform you that there has been no successful armed robbery incident in any bank in Oyo State since our assumption of office and we intend to maintain the feat recorded so far.”
