POLICE INTERCEPT ILLEGAL ARMS DEALERS SMUGGLING THOUSANDS OF AMMUNITION INTO NIGERIA FROM LIBYA

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) says it has arrested an international arms-smuggling syndicate.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Police Frank Mba, the four-man syndicate comprising Ojoomo Olugbenga, Oladimeji Adeogun, Habib Musibau and Thomas Olumuyiwa were arrested in Saki at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border in Oyo State.
He said the criminal gang operated around parts of the Sahel region, North African and West African countries, adding that a total of 6,000 AK-47 ammunition were recovered from them.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari who also confirmed the report said, the illegal Arms Dealers Smuggling Thousands Of Rifles and Ammunition into Nigeria From Libya and Burkina Faso through Benin Republic and Niger Republic were arrested with IRT. 6000 Rounds Of Ak-47 Ammunition and Several Ak-47 Rifles and Pistols Recovered.
The suspects were also said to have confessed to importing and selling of rifles and ammunition to kidnappers, armed robbers and other criminals in Nigeria.
Kyari added that 38 Kidnappers and Armed Robbers were also arrested by the IGP-IRT and IGP-STS during “Operation Puff Adder”.
All Suspects were Paraded before the Press by the Force Relations Officer FPRO Today in Abuja.
