SENATE TO INVESTIGATE SENATOR ELISHA ABBO OVER ASSAULT
The Nigerian Senate has set up an adhoc committee to investigate the
allegation of assault preferred against Senator Elisha Cliff Abbo
representing Adamawa North on a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja.
Senator Abbo has been a subject of criticism by a cross section of Nigerians
since the video of his assault on a lady hit the internet.The matter came up
for mention on the floor of the Red Chamber when Kaduna Central
Senator, Ubah Sani brought up the issue under privileges, citing Order 15
of the Senate Standing rules.
Lawmakers called for a thorough investigation into the matter before
jumping to conclusions.
The ad-hoc Committee is chaired by Senator Sam Egwu with, Senators
Oluremi Tinubu, Matthew Urhoghide, Stella Oduah, as members.
