“WE INTEND PUT AN TO END TO INSECURITY” – AHMED-BABA
By Sumayyah Olapade
Yusuf Ahmed-Baba, the running partner of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has stated that both he and Obi have solutions to address insecurity in Nigeria.
Yusuf, on the other hand, did not say what the plans were to stop the insecurity, remarking that it was pointless to talk about them because so many politicians had talked and failed.
Yusuf appeared on Channels Television on Monday, accusing President Muhammadu Buhari of neglecting to address insecurity in the country.
Yusuf expressed regret that Buhari has failed to secure Nigeria despite his commitments to do so.
Yusuf was speaking on the ‘Politics Today’ program, reacting to how Obi’s administration, if elected, would deal with insecurity.
Yusuf said, “We do, what have Nigerians not heard in the past? What has the All Progressives Congress not told Nigerians? What did Buhari not say about restoring security? Are Nigerians not tired of hearing people talk and doing the opposite?
“Peter Obi and I are a very distinct combination, which is why we are looking for this opportunity, and when we get it, we will deliver.”
“This administration has ruined the value of speaking; I am ashamed to speak because someone like Buhari has spoken and failed.”
“I don’t want to talk but act; we have a solution, and Nigerians will be safe and secure by the grace of God.”
Yusuf further stated that consistent negotiations were the only way to resolve the Academic Staff Unions of Universities in Nigeria’s persistent strike actions, and that the Obi administration will be committed to the welfare of lecturers.
