The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor) has revealed that as a son of the soil, it is his duty to go round all the wards in the state to know the areas of the suffering of each community of the state.

Adediran made this statement during his visit to some riverine communities in Ojo Local Government area of the state as he continues his campaign on Tuesday Oct. 25 ahead of the gubernetorial election in March 2023.

Ā

Jandor stated at the Igbo Oja community that he made the decision to visit all 245 wards of the state because he didn’t want to run a government that would be indifferent to the areas where his people were suffering.

“Some people say we don’t have to come home, but we don’t want to be in a position where we are controlling from the top and are blind to the suffering of our people,” the heĀ said.

That is why I made it a point to visit every ward, including the riverine settlements, from the start of my campaign strategy.

“Those in power dont know the challenges facing the the people from the riverine community.Ā  They are unable to address your needs because they haven’t been here and don’t understand what you’re going through.

“I’m aĀ son of the soil, and it’s my responsibility to visit every ward so that, when I get there, I can take the necessary steps.

The 43 year-oldĀ further stated that if elected, he would lead a government that prioritises the needs of the people.

The governorship candidate alsoĀ assured the people, saying that education would be a top priority in his administration, that it was time for Badagry Division to experience what others have.

“I come from a poor background; my parents worked hard so that I could go to school. I experienced a lot while attending school at that time. Because of my tattered uniform, teachers would send me home.

Upon returning home, I would hock coconuts and mats forĀ my mother in order to raise money for new ones. We would provide all students with free educations and uniforms if I am becomeĀ governor.

Additionally, we will see to it that contracts for the uniforms are handed to tailors in the various villages throughout the state. All our artisans, who became motorcycle (okada) riders would go back to their jobs as we will give them jobs.

“They have been dredging our water to make money and we will not stop them, but when we get there, the dredging companies would be made to employ 40% of our children as workers.

Adediran revealed that his Deputy, Funke Akindele, was told to go to markets to assure the women that if any market leader should close their market for a day after we they must have won, she would be sent to the prison.

He stated that his mother used to be a trader in mats, and that no market would be closed for a single day.

This was repeated in Irewe and Idoluwo communities, where he said that he was challenging the people with the campaign.

Jandor later went to the Palace of the monarch of Irewe, the Osolu of Osolu Kingdom, Agunbioyinbo 2, Oba Abideen Adekanbi Durosinmi, who led a prayer session for him and assured him of the support of the residents.

Some residents of Igbo Oja, who spoke during the tour requested for social amenities for the community.

Mrs. Senayon Akinsue, a resident, requested for water and electricity as well as solar system for the community, while Imam Hassan Lawal from Agoni advised the residents and members of the PDP in the community to be united, support and vote for all the candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections.
