N100M PRIZE MONEY IS ONLY FOR WINNER OF NPFL-DOZY-MMOBUOSI FOUNDATION SUPER CUP – IMC
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Interim Management Committee (IMC) has clarified that the prize money for the winner of the NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation Pre-season Tournament remains the ā¦100million presented to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).
The IMC Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi made the clarification following a statement from 3SC alluding to a sharing understanding amongst the four clubs that participated in the tournament.
“Whatever MoU was entered into by the clubs remains their arrangement as the Sponsors, Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation were very clear that the ā¦100m was for the winner and had gone ahead to announce a further ā¦30m for the runner-up, Enyimba International”, the IMC official remarked.
He said it is the prerogative of the clubs to make any arrangements they so wish to enter into, “but the fact remains that the Sponsors would be paying the ā¦100m to Shooting Stars as was officially announced”.
This clarification is coming on the heels of a statement attributed to the management of Shooting Stars purporting “to clear the air on the prize money of the just concluded NPFL-Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup Football Tournament”
The statement alleged that
“Contrary to the belief that 3SC got the whole 100,000,000 naira, being the winner of the 4-team tourney, we wish to state that the club only got 50,000,000 naira as the champions”
The IMC concluded that the Sponsor is keeping to its side of the partnership terms and conditions which is providing the ā¦100m prize money, the ā¦2m for the MVP and Highest Goal Scorer at ā¦1m each and the ā¦10m appearance fee for each of the four clubs.
“Having been impressed by the stunning and fiercely contested finals, the chairman of Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation made a further commitment of ā¦30million to the runners up, Enyimba International”, the IMC further noted.
