FORMER AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY VC AND BURSAR ARRESTED FOR N1 BILLION FRAUD
By Adeniyi Onaara
Professor Ibrahim Garba and Ibrahim Shehu Usman, former Vice Chancellor and Bursar of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, were arraigned today before Justice A.A Bello of the Kaduna State High Court on an eight-count charge of theft and money laundering amounting to over N1 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The arraignment came after months of quiet investigation prompted by a petition accusing the duo of diverting funds intended for the renovation of Zaria’s popular Kongo Conference Hotel.
The investigation determined that the defendants allegedly stole over one billion Naira from various accounts of the institution and diverted it into their personal accounts.
