The U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Guinea, which will be played on Wednesday, March 22, has been moved from Ibadan to Abuja, the Nigeria Football Federation announced.

Originally, the game was slated to take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, with the return leg taking place in Guinea on March 27.

The Olympic Eagles, who defeated Tanzania 2-0 in the second leg of their last round of qualifying, were due to return to Ibadan from Abuja, where they are presently camped, to complete their preparations for the encounter against Guinea.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, had proclaimed the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan as the base of the u-23 team for their quest to qualify for the 2024 Olympics.

The match will now be played in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the NFF’s Director of Media and Communications on Thursday.

“Nigeria’s U23 boys, Olympic Eagles will now host their Guinean counterparts at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday, 22nd March, in the final round of qualifiers for this year’s Africa U23 Cup of Nations,” the statement read in part.”
