JUST IN: TINUBU VOTES IN ALAUSA, LAGOS (VIDEOS AND PICTURES)
On Saturday, in the Lagos State neighborhood of Ikeja, the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, voted in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections.
In Ikeja’s polling unit 085 in Ward F, Sunday Adigun Alausa, Tinubu, who won the February 25 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), cast his ballot.
“I just joined other Nigerians in exercising my civic duty in the ongoing governorship and state assembly elections. I encourage you all to go out and vote peacefully,” Tinubu tweeted.
Large numbers of Department of State officers showed up at the president-elect’s voting location.
The security personnel are present because it is their responsibility to follow security protocol for Tinubu as the president-elect.
In 28 of the federation’s 36 states, elections for the state houses of assembly and the governorship are being held today.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was given permission by a Court of Appeal order to reconfigure the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) for the election, which caused the state elections, the second phase of the 2023 General Elections, to be postponed by one week from their original date of March 11.
