CHELSEA’S KALIDOU KOULIBALY RULED OUT FOR ‘WEEKS’ WITH INJURY
Chelsea’s defender Kalidou Koulibaly is expected to be sidelined for ‘weeks’ owing to an injury, and Frank Lampard has confirmed he will miss Chelsea’s next two games, including their Champions League return against Real Madrid.
Koulibaly limped off in the second half of Chelsea’s first-leg defeat at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.
“He won’t be available for either game. It’s a hamstring injury and will be a matter of weeks, rather than days.”
Koulibaly was replaced by Marc Cucurella before Chelsea went down to 10 men and reshuffled following Ben Chilwell’s red card.
“He is a very good, very experienced player,’ Lampard continued on Koulibaly.
“Albeit people talk a lot about our squad but we haven’t got lots of cover in certain times and the Champions League squad is different to the Premier League squad.
“Of course it is a disappointment for him and for us but an opportunity and we carry on without him and hopefully he gets as fit as he can.”
