LATE ARRIVAL OF MATERIALS MAR SOKOTO SUPPLEMENTARY POLL

Voters in Sokoto were incensed and furious because the state’s supplementary national assembly elections were marred by the late arrival of voting materials.

The member representing Dange/Shuni, Tureta, and Bodinga federal constituencies, Dr. Balarabe Kakale, expressed his disappointment with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to newsmen at JSS polling unit 017 in the Shuni Area of the state.

According to Kakale, the umpire has not demonstrated a willingness to conduct a free, fair, and credible rerun despite the assurances the electoral body provided Nigerians.
He said the election should have commenced by 8:am, but election materials were delayed at polling units.

“You know billions of naira were voted for INEC for this election but look at what is happening, even their ad-hoc staff were not properly trained,” he stated.

He said they have registered their protest to INEC, adding that the trend is discouraging.

He implored Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to allow the will and wishes of the electorates to prevail.
