SUBSIDY REMOVAL: REPS APPROVE TINUBU’S N500bn REQUEST FOR PALLIATIVE
The House of Representatives approved President Bola Tinubu’s request to source 500 billion naira from the approved budget to provide palliatives for Nigerians following the removal of the petrol subsidy
This resulted from the House amending the 2022 supplementary appropriation act.
This amendment was swiftly put through the second and third readings, 24 hours after the president requested it. According to the lawmakers, this was in line with the need to urgently cushion the effect of the removal of subsidy.
The lawmakers urged the president to ensure judicious use of the funds as requested.
