Pat Utomi, a renowned political economist, has opened up about his cancer battle and claims that many others his age are dealing with similar issues.

This information was revealed by Utomi in a string of tweets posted on the X app on Friday.

A tissue sample or a sample of cells from the body is removed during a biopsy in order to be tested for malignancy.

Utomi did not, however, specify the specific type of cancer he is dealing with.

He acknowledged visiting a cancer center in Ikeja occasionally after campaigns during the run-up to the 2023 elections.

Utomi continued by saying that whenever he discussed his battles with cancer, he realized that many individuals in his age group were also dealing with the same illness.

He did not understand why it was improper to mention that you were fighting cancer. The more I discussed it, the more others my age were in similar situations.

The prevalence of older Nigerian males is virtually epidemic. They forfeit the advantage of early identification if they remain silent.

“After the elections, my young nephews and relatives, doctors from the US and Europe, banded together with Lakeshore residents and decided they wanted to take care of me directly.

ā€œThatā€™s how it seemed. I went quiet cause they controlled my phones to reduce stress.ā€

Utomi, one of the LP’s top leaders, was essential to the party’s 2023 presidential bids.

He gave up his bid for the presidency in 2022 in favor of Peter Obi, the LP’s nominee.

The Center for Values in Leadership’s founder is Utomi.

He was designated as Shehu Shagari’s special assistant in the late 1970s.
