In a clearance operation at Gobara village in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on Saturday, August 26, 2023, the military, working with a hybrid force, freed 14 hostages, according to a statement made by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the army’s spokesperson, on Monday.
He claimed that six women and eight children were among the people who had been saved.
The Army spokesperson reported that on August 27, 2023, in a related operation, members of the 82 Task Force Battalion and Hybrid Force raided the BHT enclave in Gava Village in Borno State’s Gwoza Local Government Area and freed 11 civilians.
He claims that all of the victims who were saved are now being profiled while being held by the military.
Seven members of a BHT family turned themselves in to soldiers from the 81 Division Task Force Battalion in Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State on August 27, 2023, in another military operation. According to the Army, there were three adults and four children in the family.
The Nigerian Army’s 2 Battalion, acting on actionable information, neutralised one criminal and released four kidnap victims in the Kaduna State village of Kwana Shehu in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area on August 27, 2023, according to Nwachukwu.
The victims that were saved have subsequently been reunited with their families, he continued.
