In preparation for the G-20 Leaders’ Summit, President Bola Tinubu has arrived in New Delhi, India.

On Tuesday, the President travelled from Abuja to New Delhi for the meeting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal request.

A warning strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) over palliatives to mitigate the effects of the elimination of the petrol subsidy preceded the president’s travel.

As Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate at the time, won the election on February 25, 2023, the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) and their presidential candidates will also be decided by the Presidential Election Petition Court during this time.

The Nigerian leader is anticipated to present Nigeria’s viewpoint on the subject of the G20 Summit, “One Earth-One Family-One Future,” with a focus on the need for international cooperation to confront the challenges facing humanity and the planet.

“While Nigeria’s membership of the G-20 is desirable, the government has embarked on wide-ranging consultations with a view to ascertaining the benefits and risks of membership.

“Once consultations are concluded, the government will decide whether or not to apply to join as appropriate. The participation of President Tinubu at the G-20 Summit in India is, in part, in furtherance of this objective,” his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said in an earlier statement.

Along with the President, the following ministers visited India: Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Wale Edun, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy; and Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment
