
BANDITS ABDUCTS MONARCH, FIVE OTHERS, KILL ONE IN ZAMFARA
The district head of Ruwan Rana in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Magaji Makau and five others were kidnapped by bandits in the early hours of Saturday.
Similarly, one other person was also killed during the attack.
An indigene of the area, Mohammed Musa, told reporters that, the bandits who rode motorcycles entered Ruwan Rana town in the early hours of Saturday.
According to Musa, the bandits arrived in town around 3 a.m. and began shooting sporadically before going from house to house, abducting the district head and five other prominent people.
He also explained that they killed one person who refused to be abducted.
He said, “We heard gunshots around 3 a.m. and everybody went into hiding because we knew that the bandits were there for abduction.
“They went from house to house and abducted five people including our district head, shot down one person, and later returned to the forest.
“I was not aware of those abducted until in the morning when I came out to hear that, the district head, Alhaji Makau was among the victims.”
A member of the state House of Assembly representing the area, Hon Hamisu Faru, expressed disgust over the incident and assured that the victims would soon be rescued.
He said, “The security agents are making efforts to rescue the district head and the other five persons.”
The state police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, could not be reached as of the time of filling this report.
