(JUST IN) S’COURT JUDGEMENT: NIGERIA AS A COUNTRY IS DOOMED – ATIKU

Read Time:59 Second

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential contender for 2023, has declared that Nigeria is doomed as a country.

This occurs around 72 hours after the Supreme Court upheld President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February presidential election and rejected the former vice president’s petition for being without substance.

The chief justice, Justice Inyang Okoro, who chaired the seven-member panel, delivered the lead judgement. It denied the president’s academic records from Chicago State University, which Atiku attempted to present as new proof of his accusation of certificate forgery against the former governor of Lagos.

The lead judgement that dismissed Atiku’s appeals was concurred with by the other justices on the court, including Emmanuel Agim, Adamu Jauro, Mohammed Garba, Ibrahim Saulawa, Uwani Aji, and Abubakar Tijjani.

Atiku, however, claimed that Nigeria was the greater loser of the court decision when he spoke on Monday at a press conference that was still in progress in Abuja.

He said, “The bigger loss is not mine but for Nigeria. If the Supreme Court implies that crime is good and should be rewarded, then Nigeria has lost, and the country is doomed irrespective of who occupies the office.”
